Our Principal, Prof. John Sankaramangalam, the former Director of FTII Pune, is well known for his significant contributions as a teacher in Cinema, a well known film maker and an able administrator in the service of the Government of India. Internationally he has been very active as an executive member in the International Film  Training  Body  known as  CILECT, which gives opportunity to train students and faculty in the  modern technologies of  Cinema and Television.
Prof .John Sankaramangalam was the first from FTII to make a feature film which won two presidential awards and four Kerala State awards.Two more national awards and many international recognitions followed for his other films. He trained thousands of students from India and abroad the art and craft of Cinema and TV. He had been very active in various international and national scenes like Film Festivals, Curriculum Development and Planning and as well as advising many national and international institutions providing training in Cinema and Televisions. He is a visiting Professor in many prestigious institutions.
